#UFVGives — Join the #GivingTuesdayCA Movement!

Giving Tuesday marks the start of the giving season. It immediately follows the days of intense consumerism, Black Friday and Cyber Monday, and is all about helping our community by giving back.

UFV students and alumni contribute to our region’s economic and social well-being. Giving Tuesday is all about helping students succeed in their education and empowering them to make that difference.

Please spread the word and join the movement with your gift of time, talent or treasure on Giving Tuesday.

Tell us where you volunteer and how you make a difference in your community — encourage others to do the same @UFVAlumni and @goUFV!

Alumni Giving | Class of 2018 Giving | Faculty and Staff Giving

Kiya is a runner. She had dreams of running her way to a scholarship at a big university and was in talks with several universities in the states. All she needed was a good showing in her final season of high school track and field. On Jan 25, 2010, everything changed — Kiya was seriously injured when she was hit by a vehicle while training for a track event. She woke up from a coma 4 days later with a shattered pelvis. A brain injury still affects her to this day. Kiya wasn’t sure she’d be able to go to university but was determined to try. With the help of supportive UFV staff and faculty and the financial assistance provided by donors, the finish line is now in sight. Kiya will be graduating with her Bachelor of Kinesiology next semester. “Thank you to all of you who have generously donated to UFV. I’m excited for my future and I know that I wouldn’t be where I am today without your support. I want to use my story and my education to dedicate my life to helping others who have gone through trauma.” — Kiya Posthumus, UFV student and award winner

UFV Alumni Giving | Join your Alumni Board members in supporting UFV students

Alumni Association Board members donate to support UFV Students. Join them on Giving Tuesday and help propel Alumni giving to a whole new level at UFV. Alumni are an integral part of the UFV community — whether it’s through mentoring, staying connected to the university, or impacting students through financial support.

Last year, you helped the Alumni Association grow the UFV Alumni Changing Lives, Building Community Endowment Bursary to $100,000. This year, we want to reach $125,000. At this level, the annual interest will generate 6 awards at $750 each to assist students in financial need.

“As a co-founder and first Chair of the UFV Alumni Association, starting the Alumni Giving Back Bursary Endowment was extremely important to me. I’m forever grateful for the scholarships and bursaries that helped me during my post-secondary educational journey.  I am now a long-time alumnus of UFV and in a position to give back to help tomorrow’s leaders in all fields of study. All Alumni can support this endowment as an ongoing legacy to help the next generation of students achieve their education goals and then go out and change the world for the better.” — Stacey Irwin

Triple your donation: When you make your donation to the UFV Alumni Changing Lives, Building Community Endowment Bursary on Giving Tuesday, November 27, it will be matched 2:1. That means if you donate $100 it becomes $300!
