Over $36,000 raised to support the UFV-SUS Food Bank
The UFV community responded in a huge way on Giving Tuesday, raising more than $36,000 for the UFV-Student Union Society Food Bank. On Nov 28, 2023, hundreds of non-perishable items were collected through the “Build a Hamper” project across campuses, highlighting the enormous generosity of UFV faculty and staff.
Susan Mide Kiss, UFV Vice-President, Community Engagement, says it warmed her heart seeing the response from the UFV community.
“Thank you for your support this Giving Tuesday,” Mide Kiss says. “Your generosity has demonstrated that together, we can create a brighter future for all.”
Funds raised will make a significant difference in the lives of UFV students and their families. This support strengthens the UFV-SUS Food Bank’s ability to address growing demand and provide essential supplies to assist those facing food insecurity. Since the beginning of the academic year, the food bank has seen an estimated 500 per cent increase in requests for hampers.
